The Red Hill Meadows is nestled between the Big and Little Snowy Mountains 26 miles southeast of Lewistown east of Red Hill Road. Access is by 10 miles paved road and the remainder county gravel and private. This area of the Snowy Mountains is a high moisture area, receiving around 26” of annually precipitation. This allows the property to remain green and lush through the summer. Lewis and Clark National Forest access is just four miles away. The National Forest is over 100,000 acres, with miles of hiking trails and other outdoor activities. The Snowy Mountain elk herd has high numbers for the area and resides in the 411 and 511 hunting districts. Central Montana is highly regarded as some of the finest farm and ranch areas of Montana. The community thrives with successful Agricultural producers. The privacy and quality of life in this area is unsurpassed.
Central Montana has a wide variety of outdoor activities and this property is situated amongst some of the main attractions. Lewistown boast Big Spring Creek the Missouri River and Judith Rivers. Crystal Lake, Ackley Lake, Petrolia Lake, and the world renowned Fort Peck Reservoir is nearby in addition to Warm Spring Creek. Besides the water sources there are five area mountain ranges that provide a variety of hunting and other forms of recreation. Lewistown has been in national magazines and journals as one of the best places in America to live and hunt and fish.
Big Snowy Mountains:
The Big Snowy Mountains are just south of Lewistown that include 106,776 acres of Lewis and Clark National Forest. The most widely used access are from the following three roads: Red Hill Road, Cottonwood Creek Road, and Crystal Lake Road. The Big Snowy Mountain area is designated as a federal wilderness study area, leaving the area nearly untouched. The mountains are an excellent spot for exploring, hiking, or hunting within minutes from the ranch.
Fortunately, this property lies within a climate zone that has over 26 inches of precipitation yearly and a 100 day growing season. Climate reports indicate that this area receives about 60 inches of snowy during the winter months. This property experiences the best of all four seasons Montana has to offer.
For equestrian enthusiasts the Red Hill Meadows has great amenities, with a diverse topography and trails though the property it makes for a great place to ride. The Snowy Mountain National Forest trail acres is miles from the ranch and has miles of trails. Numerous other public acres are available in the area as well.
This ranch contains 60 deeded acres tucked away in a private setting below Middle Bench along North Fork Flatwillow Creek. Privacy is ensured being located at the end of the road. With heavily timbered scenery and open meadows with running water wildlife are active thriving in numbers.
Water includes North Fork Flatwillow Creek which starts in the Big Snowy Mountains and flows through the north portion of the ranch. A developed spring supplies water for the improvements and lawn with excellent pressure.
The area is home to one of Montana’s more prevalent elk herds, along with elk all walks of wildlife inhabit and frequent the property and area. The property is located in the 411 Hunting District, a draw is necessary for an Elk tag but Deer hunting requires a general tag. Other wildlife that inhabit the area are Whitetail Deer, Mule Deer, Bear, Lion, Bobcat, Turkey, and many more. Additionally the ranch borders over 3,000 private acres that could be leased for hunting, fishing and recreation.
The ranch includes a one of a kind set of improvements, recently used as a venue for weddings, family reunions, and vacations. A mix of new construction and older log cabins. All the buildings have been updated and are in great shape. The buildings include: two cabins with kitchen and bathrooms, sleeper cabin, bunk house with four separate rooms along with laundry and storage room, timber frame pavilion large enough for 120 guests, three sided storage building, and barn with corrals for horses.
