Wildlife
The Black Butte Ranch contains 4,255 deeded and 180 BLM acres situated east of the Judith Mountains just 32 miles from Lewistown. The ranch has been meticulously maintained and managed for the last 17 years. Along with a diversified agricultural operation the ranch holds exceptional wildlife numbers on over 2,700 acres of tillable ground of which 300 acres are flood irrigated. Sources of water include over 5 miles of Brickyard Creek, reservoirs, seasonal creeks, and a system of waterlines and tanks. Food plots, live water, lots of feed and cover account for high wildlife numbers. Big Game include Muleys, Whitetails, Antelope, and Elk. Along with Waterfowl there are Pheasants, Sharptails, and Huns. In the midst of a well-cared yard area are a Home, combination Shop/Office/Garage Building, Barn, Corrals, Licensed Scale, and other outbuildings. The farm income is from alfalfa and alfalfa/grass hay, small grains, and pasturing cattle. A neighboring family with a full line of equipment has been helping operate the ranch. They would be a good candidate to care take and cash lease the property.
